What If Popular Film Directors Shot Food Videos

We bet that we all have heard at least once in our lives about what makes a movie gripping and compelling. Directors try their best to show us their take on the aesthetic of life.

Quentin Tarantino is among the most popular directors the world has ever known. And it is safe to say that he will remain so for at least another century. His directing style is unconventional yet unmistakable. Yet everybody wants to imitate it and study it in film school. He manages to envision the world around him in thrilling and suspenseful scenes and visual theatrics coupled with great narrative. Tarantino has a penchant for all things sinister. And yet his shots are clear-cut and vivid. Although he films the objects in painstaking detail, the shots never seem over-the-top or extravagant.

Alfonso Cuarón‘s directing style is also unmistakable, though it differs completely from Tarantino’s. Every shot and scene abound in profound sensibility. Cuarón manages to create a cinematic experience that transcends the material world. One element of his signature style is the use of incredibly long shots. Yet another directing style that is completely unique is that of Wes Anderson. You have probably watched Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). His directing style is bold, vibrant, and fun. His artistic vision is grand, colorful, and whimsical. Every shot bursts with color and stands out.

FoodFilms is a series of recipe videos made in their style. These videos will make you want re-watch some classic films while you eat something delicious. David Ma is a food artist who worked with CO3/Method Studios and Decibel NY for this series. Whether you consider yourself a foodie or a film fanatic, the creativity behind these videos will render you speechless. Just scroll down to see food recipes inspired by Quentin Tarantino, Alfonso Cuarón, and Wes Anderson.

What if Tarantino made Spaghetti & Meatballs?

Can you imagine Alfonso Cuarón making pancakes?

What if Wes Anderson made S’mores?

30 Creative & Modern Weather Mobile App Designs

In another post, we were talking about weather. Well, not the actual whether… But how we rely on it to make conversion when there is an awkward silence between acquaintances. We also mentioned how mobile applications are increasingly popular these days. Needless to say, a user-friendly interface equals to a great design.

By the way, do you remember when weather forecasting felt a lot like fortune telling? Thankfully, those days are long gone. That’s because apps which accurately tell the weather finally exist. Unfortunately, some weather apps these days contain lots of unnecessary data or minutely-detailed information. But the problem is that those only make sense if you are an experienced meteorologist. So, we will not bother you with technical data, but with creativity. So, here are 30 amazingly creative weather app designs:

15 Fantastic Solar Eclipse Photography Examples You Need to See

On August 21st, people of North America witnessed the first total solar eclipse in 38 years. Since looking directly at the Sun can lead to permanent eye damage, people had to wear special eye protection. Sadly, the solar eclipse was mostly limited to the United States. The solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth and thus blocking the Sun. The phenomenon is called ‘occultation’ in astronomy, and it can be either stellar or solar. The United States will witness the exact occultation in about 35 years, namely on March 30, 2052.

Eclipses have always fascinated human kind, if not scared. The ancient Chinese thought than an evil dragon devoured the sun, while the Koreans thought that fire dogs tried to steal it instead. Similarly, Norse cultures thought that wolves were the culprits. In North American folklore, a bear took a bite from the Sun. The Vietnamese believed a giant toad was the sun-eating for. The Mayans thought it was a giant serpent, while the Hungarians believed it was a giant bird. So each an every culture would try to make noises to scare the demons and the beasts away. Other cultures believed that the Sun and the Moon were fighting.

Be it devouring, stealing, or fighting, people used mythology to explain their curiosity towards the astral phenomena. Here is a collection of 15 fantastic solar eclipse photographs found on Instagram.
